After much anticipation, Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, was unveiled yesterday in a special event held at San Francisco.

Both iPhones will be officially launched for the Indian market on October 7th. As for now, the pricing details are yet to be made clear, but the company announced that it will start from Rs 60,000 onwards for the base model.

A new force-sensitive home button, an A10 Fusion 64-bit quad core SoC, wireless AirPods, IP67 water and dust resistance, camera improvements, 25% brighter display, improved colour management etc. are featured in the latest set of iPhones.

India is predicted to top app revenue charts by 2020, with 20.1 billion app downloads. The prediction has been done by popular app data and insights company AppAnnie. If it happens, it would be a 92% increase from 2016.

In the last 2 years, total app download rate and in-app time has doubled up compared to the first quarter of 2014. AppAnnie’s prediction also includes Brazil, Argentine, Mexico, and Indonesia in 2^nd , 3^nd , 4^th and 5^th positions respectively. At the same time, app revenues in more mature markets such as Japan, US and Western Europe will still comprise 2/3rd of the total app revenue.

According to the report, by 2020, the global app market will grow to $102million.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has claimed that they have paid $50 million in revenue to developers. This is a 20% increase from the $40 million in January. Last year, the number was $30 million. He was talking at the Wordwide Developers Conference yesterday.

Also the number of apps in the App Store has seen a significant increase to 2 million apps from 1.5 million apps same time last year. The total downloads has reached 130 billion.

Apple also overhauled the App Store revenue sharing model last week, now offering a developer friendly 85-15 split that are at least a year old and have subscriptions. This model replaced an 8 year old 70-30 revenue split model.

Another major development announced was that Apple would allow app creators to advertise search-related apps in the app store, thus giving users a chance to re-engage with apps.

AppReviewTimes.com has reported a drop in the average review period from 8.8 days in 2015 to 1.95 presently.

This move closes the review period difference App Store had with its competitor, Google’s Play Store. It also points to a shift in the mobile industry for Apple, whose mobile phone sales have started to stagnate in a saturated market. The new focus would be on deriving more revenue from the service sector.

“Apple is a little bit of a different company than it was a few years ago when it first built the App Store,” said Maddern, founder of Button. “It’s becoming a lot more developer-friendly. It’s becoming a lot more open in its approach to building an ecosystem.”
